Renovation Concept Design
This example case explores renovation concept design for this family home. The brief included expanding the living areas within a sloping site constrained by side and front boundaries. The designer needed to explore concepts with minimal up front investment.
AltaScene’s LiDAR based site model was generated within days - providing high resolution terrain, a full building envelope, and all surrounding properties and roads. The comprehensive model enabled the designer to explore concepts sooner and without the significant cost of an on-site survey.
The sloping site is constrained by side and front boundaries and is heavily vegetated below the house. Surrounding properties and roofs would form an important consideration for living area expansion and modelled.
Terrain Model
The 493m² site contains 1,456 ground points. The lower part of the site was heavily vegetated.
Boundaries are defined on the terrain.
Surrounding properties and roads were modelled for environmental context.
Building Envelope
AltaScene’s solution generates a complete building envelope including Recession Planes and Height Limit.
The roof model enables locating the existing house and defines the available space within the building envelope.
